Van Damme Award for
UT-Alumna Nicole Haye
The University of Twente
has awarded the 2007 Marina van Damme award to Ir. Nicole Haye (1971). The award
was initiated 5 years ago and is intended for a successful UT graduate with both
an outstanding career track record as well as substantial contributions towards
community projects and who serves as a role model for other women. Nicole Haye
received her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Twente in 1995 and is
site manager for the GE Plastics Raamsdonksveer manufacturing facility.
She received the award Wednesday 20th of June from Annemarie van der Rest
(member of Zonta The Hague, Netherlands) during the UT-Innovation day in
Enschede with guest speaker Mrs van der Hoeven, secretary of Economic Affairs in
the Netherlands. The price consists of a money sum and a statue made by Mohana
van den Kroonenberg. The award is initiated by Mrs Marina van Damme, former
director of Akzo Corporate and in the sixties the first PhD graduate at the
University of Twente.
Engagement
Nicole is Chair for the
GE Plastics Women’s Network, serves as mentor in the GE Plastics Employee Mentor
Program and an active member of GE Volunteers, conducting charitable projects in
the neighbourhood of GE-locations.

Baronie
Nicole Haye is a member
of the Zonta club de Baronie, based in Breda and one of 23 Dutch local hubs of
Zonta International. Zonta International is a global organization of executives
and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide
through service and advocacy. Nearly 33,000 members belong to more than 1,200

International Zonta
Convention in Rotterdam
In 2008 Rotterdam will
host the bi-annual international Zonta Convention, organized by Zonta Club
Rotterdam. Zonta Club de Baronie is actively assisting the organizing committee
with the preparations for this weeklong event for which we are expecting 2,500
participating Zonta members from all over the world to travel to Rotterdam.
Nicole Haye has taken on the task of translating the necessary communications in
order to keep the Chicago, USA based headquarters as well as the other regions
informed on the program and progress.
