Governor's message
Welcome to Zonta International
District 29
District 29 is a multinational District, which has Zonta clubs located in
6 different countries within Europe: North West France – Germany (Westphalia-Rheine)
– Russia – Spain – The Netherlands – United Kingdom.
Zonta International is a global organization whose primary focus is on
improving the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Zontians are executives and professionals who volunteer their time, talents
and generosity to help local and international programmes that further the
objects of Zonta International, helping women and girls to have a better
life.
Zonta International, its districts and clubs, advocate at all levels for
laws and policies that appropriately address issues of gender inequality.
District 29 is proud to have 75 clubs - Having 75 clubs means having 75
different and wonderful local projects, with one common goal which is to
help women and girls
Our District 29 Conference was held in Madrid, Spain on 24-26 June 2011. It
was wonderful to meet Zontians from all of our 6 countries - A fantastic
week end to remember, instructive and informative with fun and pleasure. I
express my heartiest thanks to members of Zonta Club Madrid Km0 and the
Conference Organizing Committee for the unforgettable work they accomplished.
All of the District committees worked hard and you will find their
presentations and reports on the section for Members only
I encourage you to explore our website and I thank our Web Master Christa
Feitzinger for updating and renewing it. Please let us know about your

About UN Women
In July 2010 the
United Nations General Assembly unanimously decided to create UN
Women,
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of
Women.
This announcement is an historic one -
In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating
the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of
women.
The creation of a single entity, with adequate resources will focus
and enhance efforts to promote and advance the rights of women and
girls around the world
UN Women has become totally operational on 1st January
